An Inspiring Experience

Attending the Motor City Comic Con was a very inspiring experience! I've been an independent publisher for nearly 25 years. My main project was a regional historical magazine called The Trumpeteer. Since my company has made the plunge into the trading card business, I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting many independent publishers, artists, writers, and just generally good, hard-working people, who bring a great deal of beauty to the world. Our first set of trading cards "Tattoo Art Trading Cards," has given me reason to attend Tattoo Conventions, Non-Sports Card Shows, and Comic Cons. I have met very few artists who do not understand the importance of working together to help promote one another. I notice no animosity between artists; although, I'm sure there are cases.
Recently I met three independent comic book publishers/artists/photographers/musicians...you get the picture. These guys epitomize what the Indies are all about. They all have day jobs, and yet they find the time to publish comic books, books, CD's, perform, attend shows, etc. They are the rock-stars of the Indie publishing business in my book. These guys are talented beyond belief. Their comic book is called "American Bloodlust." They have published three issues, and they are extremely well-done. They publish under the name of "Decayed Minds Comics." You'll find them at www.decayedminds.com, and on Facebook at decayedminds@facebook.com.
I would like to personally thank Rob Kay, Chad Kovack, and Brian Shopp, first of all for a great time at Motor City Comic Con, and most of all for inspiring this tired old Indie publisher. You guys ROCK! Thanks.

Motor City Comic Con Promo Card is Awesome!!

The new promo card for the Motor City Comic Con arrived in the mail today!!! It is the best promo card we've put out yet? Many thanks to Bart Andrews, whose fantastic art is featured on the card. Many thanks to Maxine and the folks at Color Printing Pros - I ordered the card on Monday, and had the cards in my hands on Wednesday early afternoon. And, they discounted the overnight shipping costs by over $100.00 :) I can't give Color Printing Pros a high enough recommendation. Bart went above and beyond as well, getting his artwork to me the next day after I called. Thanks to all!!
Earlier, I said everyone had to wait to see the new promo card at Motor City Comic Con, but this card is so cool, I have to show it off now!! Here it is, but you can only get it for now this weekend at the MOtor City Comic Con. However, if you can't get there to get one, I'm sure it will only be a couple of days until eBay will be full of them! Here it is:

Philly Non-Sport Card Show a Great Success

Frank Eachus Publishing released Tattoo Art Trading Cards at the Philly Non-Sports Trading Card Show, April 21 & 22, with a great reception. The show attendees received 2 promo cards, and the first fifty sets sold at the show were guaranteed to contain an autographed card. The 25-card base set contains many heavy-hitters of the tattoo world, including Guy Aitchison, Durb Morrison, Gabriel Cece, Pat Patterson, and more! Also included in the set are cards depicting tattooed circus performers of the past, and other historically significant cards. The base set also contains an autographed art card from the artist "Pepper." One in four sets contain an autographed card.
The idea for the set was the brain-child of Frank Eachus. "I came up with the idea a couple of years ago, and it was very gratifying to see the tremendous response at the Philly Non-Sports Card Show." The cards are popular with collectors due to the art, and the fantastic talent of the artists. Of course, the cards are also popular with tattoo enthusiasts, who like the cards for the same reasons.
Frank Eachus Publishing plans to release subsequent cards in the form of 5-card packs. The packs will contain more artist feature cards, autograph cards, and chase cards. The company expects an August 2012 release of the 5-card packs.
Eachus has been a trading card collector for many years. "I've combined my publishing vocation, with my card collecting hobby, and I'm having a blast," says Eachus. Frank Eachus Publishing plans to release several more sets of trading cards, based on several different subjects. "Our company is now officially in the trading card business, my partner, Paul Kozak, and myself are very excited about the prospects, the hobby seems to be gaining popularity, and we hope to contibute to the continued increase of interest in the non-sport trading card hobby," says Eachus.

The first printing of the first set is off to the printers

Two years later, after many ups and downs, my Tattoo Art Trading Card project is coming to fruition. I just gave the official okey dokey to the printer. I am more than anxious to see the completed set. I had this idea over two years ago, and I put it out there on the Internet and through the artists I contacted. When I first thought of the concept of a set of trading cards, featuring the art of tattoo artists, I checked the Internet for anything like my concept. I found absolutely nothing remotely resembling my idea. Now, I have noticed a couple of other upstarts, who are producing my exact concept. This is great news, it validates my idea, and makes me the originator of a well-received new collectible. Mimicry sincerely is the purest form of flattery.
Cover Card for the Original Tattoo Art Trading Card Set

Judging from the websites I've seen, these other companies are producing nice trading cards as well. I would suggest the collector check out all of the sets available. However, of course, the original trading cards featuring the art of the tattoo are Tattoo Art Trading Cards, produced by Frank Eachus Publications.
